Thinking Makes You Smarter

My students think I'm crazy when I prescribe that they take 30 minutes each day to sit alone and do nothing: no books, no paper, no computer, no phone, no music.

People need to take time to digest the happenings of their life. Yes, thinking makes you smarter. We need to teach our kids make an effort to just sit and think.

Daydreaming gets a pretty bad rap. It's often equated with laziness, and we tend to write off people with wandering minds as being absent-minded "space cadets" who can't get their heads out of the clouds.
