Classes

Our classes are small and focus on each individual student's strengths, weaknesses and goals. Students participate actively in lessons and support each other towards mastery of the material. 








Reading and Writing



ELA "Common Core" Test Prep
3 - 10 students

We will address test-taking and study skills, while practicing reading and writing skills and lots of sample questions. Special attention will be given to topics and skills with which students struggle most. Classes will have 2 to 10 students, with lots of individual attention.


Foundations of Essay Writing (5th through 8th grade) 
(class not currently offered)

Students will learn basic essay writing skills in the context of a variety of writing assignments. Students will support each other and share ideas as they learn to brainstorm, pre-write, draft and edit their work. 



Math



Math "Common Core" Test Prep
3 - 10 students

We will address test-taking and study skills, while reviewing and drilling math topics and lots of sample questions. Special attention will be given to topics with which students struggle most. Classes will have 2 to 10 students, with lots of individual attention.


Foundations of Middle School Math  (5th & 6th grade) 
(class not currently offered)

This class is intended for students who want to start 6th grade right.

Students will transition from elementary school Math approaches to the 6th grade curriculum. Basic Math and study skills will be emphasized while students are introduced to 6th grade Math topics. Special attention will be given to topics with which students struggle most.

Students will master basic skills, such as long multiplication, long division, and operations with fractions and decimals.  Students will be taught to keep a good math notebook, which will be checked weekly. Students will receive periodic assessments and weekly homework assignments covering new and review topics. The goal is to accelerate each student's transition into Middle School and  provide a source of confidence during their transition.




Organizational Skills



After School Quiet Study
(4th through 12th grade) 
School Days: 3PM to 7PM students come after school and stay as long as they need to achieve their goals (limited space) 

$ 25 per day
$ 100 per week

Students will work independently on their daily assignments. 
Instructors will monitor, guide and coach students, with the goal of developing new habits that will enable them to confidently manage their academic responsibilities for themselves.


Organizational Skills and Time Management 
(5th through 12th grade) 
3 - 5  students  

Intensive  workshops for students who want more time and better grades (and their parents off their back!). Students will bring ALL of their piles of papers and they will leave with confidence and a whole new outlook.
