Rita earned an MS Ed in Developmental Reading from City College of New York. She also holds BA from City College with a major in Fine Arts and a minor in Education.
Before joining the Cobble Hill Think Tank, Rita worked for 14 years as a Literacy Project Team Leader, Literacy Coach, Reading Specialist and Classroom Teacher in District 16 in Brooklyn. Before that, she spent 10 years educating adults in basic reading, writing and math.
Rita has extensive experience teaching reading to students in early childhood all the way to adult. She is familiar with a wide variety of instructional techniques and remediation, and especially how they
apply to students of different learning styles and learning difficulties.
Rita retired from the DOE in 2011, but came to the Cobble Hill Think Tank because she missed doing the job that she loves. At the Cobble Hill Think Tank, Rita teaches reading and writing skills for pre-K through middle school, as well as Test Prep for the early childhood ERB, the OLSAT and DOE G&T screening.
